OVERVIEW / CONTEXT
Design a high-end specs electric shower, to replace a discontinued product. The new design layout will include the existing engine and case. The mandatory was given to keep on the market a product with similare features and reducing costs. Deliver an outstanding UX through clear functions, a peculiar attention on CMF and user firendly UI points.
ROLE
I performed all the roles as a Lead Industrial designer and UX designer.
TASKS
Entire Design process including Market research, testing and suppliers management, UX design for the assembly, functions for the dials and light guide, UI design for graphic elements and icons, Logo branding.
RESEARCH
Competitors research 1
The first stage of the competitor analysis is mainly focused on understanding the market and identifying the competitors.
The second stage of the competitor analysis is focused on the features of the main features of the product:
Price/Outlets and Power.
The goal of the research is to have a reliable products with the requested specs fitting in the budget that Aqualisa have.

Conclusions
The takeaway from the Competitors research is tp have the following conclusions:
Power will not be less than 8.5 KW
Price point up to 600£ (Matching the budget).
DESIGN/PROTOTYPE
CMF and Form concept.
The main focus is to deliver an high-end range of finishes. I also focused my attention on new texture and materials for the UI points, and details that can make the new product iconic and outstanding. I’ve put together a moodboard highlighting the finishes and details to have in the final product.
Construction concepts
The main challenge i found during the design phase was, fitting the new parts the previous engine case. I explored some contructions and I make a summary to analyze the prons. and cons. to spot the best mechanical design.
Define/Ideate/Test/Refine
I empowered the process through Design Thinking methods. Every single concepts was tested and refined through User-trials, interviews and new improved prototypes.
Assembly
The central lighting element, is designed to be the main UI point able to deliver informations like low pressure, low temperature and a warning signals.
UX Design,Functions and affordances
Turning ON/OFF
Vertical bar starts to light and moving from Bottom to Top when Lumi+is on and gradually from Top to bottom during the shut-down phase
Temperature/Flow-power
When the user is turning the Temperature dial, the bar will indicate the incremental. Flow/Power will have the same affordance.
